Galaxy to face Puerto Rico Islanders in Champions League Match
Galaxy vs. Puerto Rico Islanders
Fresh off the presses, the Los Angeles Galaxy front office have just notified fans, in their official press release, that the club will face off against the Puerto Rico Islanders at the Home Depot on Tuesday, July 27th at 7PM. This is the first time since 2006 that the Galaxy will participate in the CONCACAF Champions League.
The return leg of the Home and Home format will take place on August 4 at Juan Ramon Loubreil Stadium in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
The winner of the two matches will then be placed in Group D. Group D will include Toluca (Mexican Causura Champion), Olimpia (Honduras) and the preliminary round match-up winner between FAS (El Salvador) and Xelaju (Guatemala).
The Puerto Rico Islanders qualified for this game by winning the Caribbean Football Union’s Club Championship. While the Galaxy are included in the tournament by way of their finish last year that culminated in the MLS Cup Finals berth.
For season ticket holders, this game has been included in their package. Otherwise tickets will go on sale on Friday, June 11.
This is my first chance to experience the CONCACAF Champions League. I am excited to see the team get a chance to face international competition in meaningful games. With the Galaxy’s ability to provide different starting lineups consisting of all 24 players, their depth should only help them to be able to compete in, what should be, a grueling second half of the season.
Hope to see you all there for kickoff on July 27, 2010!

This is a cool lightbulb, but unfortunately I find very little use for it. If I was smarter I would get rid of it. But I can't!
